About us

At the Finnish Breast Cancer Consortium, we are dedicated to addressing some of the most critical scientific questions in breast cancer, with a strong focus on translational research—turning laboratory discoveries into clinical solutions that improve diagnosis, treatment, and patient outcomes.

Our multidisciplinary team comprises of cancer researchers and clinicians across Finland and brings together diverse expertise in molecular biology, oncology, bioinformatics, and translational medicine. Finnish Breast Cancer Consortium is uniquely positioned to accelerate discoveries and translate them into meaningful clinical solutions.

We develop cutting-edge technologies and breast cancer models—including in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo systems—to study disease biology. Our work spans preclinical drug discovery, integration of national registries and biobank data, and advanced spatial analyses and imaging. By combining these tools with comprehensive molecular data analysis, we aim to define the mechanisms driving breast cancer progression, identify novel prognostic and therapeutic biomarkers, and advance personalized therapies tailored to each patient.

What we do

The Finnish Breast Cancer Consortium

  • Creates research synergies for breast cancer researchers in Finland to advance science and identify funding opportunities

  • Coordinates training for breast cancer researchers, health professionals and advocates by organising workshops and a yearly breast cancer symposia

  • Disseminates emerging scientific knowledge on breast cancer for scientists, clinicians, health policymakers, patients and general public
